Healthy Avocado Montaditos

I’ve always been a huge fan of avocado and even more since I lived on the Canary islands. It was also in Tenerife when I started to eat corn crackers (in Switzerland e.g from Alnatura or Jamadu) almost on a daily basis because they are just a perfect snack and you can combine them with almost everything. So practical and so healthy. They are a good alternative to bread, low in calories and fat, easy to bring with you and they won’t go bad. So of course one day I started to combine the two, and it turned out to become one of my favorite snacks. Enjoy!

Prep time: 5 Minutes
Level: Easy


  • Corn crackers
  • 1/2 – 1 ripe avocado
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Sea salt and pepper (optional)


Cut the avocado in two halves, store the other half with the stone in an airtight box. Cut the cherry tomatoes into halves. If the avocado is really soft you can simply spread it like butter on the corn cracker, put the cherry tomatoes on top and finish with some sea salt and pepper to taste. If the avocado is too hard you can mash it in a plate with a fork or simply cut it into pieces and put it on top of the corn crackers.

That’s it!

Other toppings that go very well with corn crackers are olives, feta cheese, cottage cheese or other cheese spreads. Also, if the crackers you are using are not too salty, you might also use peanut butter or chocolate spreads to satisfy your sweet tooth.
